Just got to go in the room for their nightly check-in. Pretty sure they have destroyed their water again. So tired of the babies putting flakes in the water!

We showed him the new babies too and he just stared at them. (He was well supervised of course). He loves being near the pen we have the girls in. I have read not to let big roos near small pullets bc they will try to mate before the pullets are mature enough. So that's why he gets gated visitation.

This usually applies to 3-5 month olds, just one to two months before they lay. IME, unless the male is young himself, they don't engage with the very young girls

Snape was supposedly 7 months when we got him. That was early last month so he's 8 months old now. The pullets are about 2 months old if I am not mistaken. We have had them about 4 weeks. They were 3 to 5 weeks when we got them as they had most their feathers.

I will when I get eggs again to hatch. It will be a few months. Starlena, the girl I'm getting them for and housing them for will get a card for Christmas with picture of what they could look like. She liked the buff laced ones at the show and I like the silver laced ones, so I'll get a mix of those.

I am a sucker for silver laced and lavender colors. Buffs are nice and blonde though and I think they are cute. I just don't like standard red chickens. Says the owner of two RIR pullets
