I think talking about chickens too much is why we're all here on BYC 🤣
I think your right 🤣
my friends don't have chickens so they just don't understand. I have one chicken lover friend, and it's awesome!
My friends are like that too. They put up with me talking about my chickens, but I still try not to talk too much about my chickens.😅

I'm so glad you have one! I bet it is awesome!
I hope I can find a friend that loves chickens like I do. I want to start doing 4H, so there is a good chance I might find someone:).
We have looked at what breeds we want to add to our laying flock for next year and Blue JG is one of them! That's so awesome you had such a great one, and very sad you had to sell her, moving is such a pain.
The Blue JG is an amazing breed! We originally had 3 of them, but lost the other 2 to predators.
They aren't very popular. I actually don't know where TCS got them from (that's were I got the Blue JG from), since Hoover's Hatchery doesn't sell them (that's normally where TCS gets their chicks from).
She was amazing! I'm hoping I can get some next year too.
Apparently there are 2 different strains of JG though. One doesn't go broody as much, but the other goes broody a lot. I guess I got the 2nd strain ?
I'm not sure how true that is though. She's the only JG I've had, so I wouldn't know. I hope I get the more broody strain when I get them again.
Moving is a pain :(.
Oh, and I say "we" but it's really me just finding breeds I think my hubby will say, that looks cool, and I take that as permission to purchase...
:lau:gig
I have found out he likes blue chickens I have found.
I love blue chickens! That is one of my favorite colors in chickens (if not my favorite. There are so many different colors, it's hard to choose!).
It is such a beautiful color!
Here are my two broody silkies, they are maybe 6 months old and getting practice in for next year 😃 they're both off the nest now.
Aw, they are so adorable!:love
I was also thinking about getting silkies, since they are known to be really good broodies.

Here are some pictures of my Blue JG. Her name was Charcoal.

Charcoal is gorgeous! So yes, my flock totally needs a few of those 😃 I wasn't aware of the two stains but I guess it makes sense as different hatcheries and even different breeders could focus on their own preferred traits.

I hope you can find a chicken friend in 4h!

Ditto! We don't have any chicken friends irl so no one to chicken chat with. Although the girls are mine, hubby gets soooo disappointed when visitors don't go admire the pretty girls 🤣.

And family members won't even mention the word chicken anymore for fear I'll start bombing the conversation with random chicken facts :gig .

However, please note that NO ONE turns down the offer of fresh eggs tho 🤔 🤣
Oh yeah, everyone wants the fresh eggs but not the backstory and all the side stories, and rabbit trails about chickens 🤣 for the most part I don't talk to people much (I talk a lot at work because I have to, I use up all my quota of words and have none leftover for the weekends 🤣) but I can still talk about chickens if anyone dares broach the subject 😃

Yep, everyone who comes over has to meet the hubby's horse and see the chickens.

Now I want one. As if I don't have 22 eggs in the incubator.

Inside today's candle spotlight, we have the following beauties!

1) Egg #2 (I think bc I started this post last night and forgot the number)
2) Egg #21 from batch 2
3) Egg #6 (air cell worries me)
4) Egg #8

I will reply and post names and ppls later today unless someone else beats me to it! (If you do tag me so I don't do it again unless yall want two shoutouts heh heh)
22 is nothing:p
22 is waaaaaaay too many (according to hubs) 🤣 I told him chickens sell good in the country. Maybe. I had to find an excuse SOMEHOW 😆
