The fact that all the boys look the same as do the girls, add that I hatch a lot and cull a lot so not all the birds stay here long enough to name them - if I was inclined to do so.

As you can see, I couldn't look out in the field and say, I wonder what 'Joe' is doing over there.

I do love black chickens. I have two olive eggers that are definitely Marans crosses - and their coloring is stunning. Almost teal in the sunlight!
 
Yes, black presents to our eyes as green in feather refracted sunlight.
Yes, and I just love them. This is my Rhubarb girl. She’s an Olive Egger that doesn’t lay Olive Eggs! 😆 I was bummed, but she’s super friendly and her eggs are always beautiful anyway. Always consistent. She lays much more frequently than her Olive-laying twin.
