Naming of coops

Ours is referred to as the "Hen Palace". I used this site to design the coop for easy maintenance; My DW insisted that it look good in the yard.

1st Duck house- "Waddelon Inn"
Call duck house- "The Quack House"

These are all great!

When I built mine, the neighbors wanted to know why I built the chickens such a palace. Then, it just naturally became (what else?) Orpington Manor. DSO even got a chandelier for it, but liked it so much he put it in his own kitchen.

We're big fans of old English literature, romantics at heart, constantly glued to PBS whenever there's a Jane Austen movie fest, or any old novel movie...we love Dickens, etc...


So: Our chickens all share the made-up last name Darles, thus they are the Darles Chickens...and live in Beak House, from Dickens' Bleak House.

If you find that funny, you, too, are twisted and wrong. We love it, but it makes most people blankly blink or stare.

Love Beak House. Love the chandelier story!

I'm deciding between Cluckinghen Palace and Chalet Poulet (or Poulet Chalet).

If I ever end up with a big coop, which I'd like to, I'm going to call it the Coop and put a sign over the door that says "Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens."
