Naming

I think that is natural because I have thought I had pigeons mysteriously disappear and then all of a sudden they come out of a crack or crevice that you ddint' think they could fit into but they did. I had some space behind some nest boxes one time and wouldn't you know it, it was just enough for the birds to get back in there and nest and I couldn't get in behind it that well without disturbing the whole nesting unit and taking it down so they always went back in there and I could always count on them having a few extra young uns for us. We name all of ours. Mainly because I have 3 kids and they LOVE to name things. I have white homers though, so most of them look alike... I think that we have used every 'white' name out there (ie. snowball, snowy, yogurt, vanilla, marble, polar bear, snow flake, etc)... now we are on to random names (sunny, junior, chun chun, etc).

Knowing them all by name does make it more sad when they get eaten though

I used to name some of mine. I kept 6-8 at a time... mostly rollers, ferals and mixes between them. They were just something to do and I liked to watch them and hear them "talk". Big Red, Izzy, and Squeaker come to mind I havn't had any pigeons, other than 1 squeaker I caught at work and gave away the next day, in 7 years though.
