You are awesome! He would be VERY excited! He has another 4-H friend who breeds them (she gave him the ones we have) and ever since she educated him on how rare the breed is he is very interested. Also, we love their temperament, he used one of his roo's for showmanship because he is so easy to handle. He is in a 4-H group here called Fancy Feathers and it's dedicated to breeding and showing chickens, there isn't a club like it here in Texas.

Each year the club puts on their own show and we have had a wonderful turnout. I will PM you, I am sure any of your hens would be better than the one we have, she is a good bird but it will take forever to breed out the ticking issue. Then we can share the chicks we hatch with our group! At the bluebonnet classic show (which is one of the biggest shows in Texas) there was only 3 nankins and they where one of my sons roo's and his friend brought 2.

Good for you!

I'm sure the poultry world could use more Nankins. They're so friendly, yet so confident. By far my favorite breed.

Be careful...someone in your little group is picking feathers....I noticed in the photos that some have bare-backs....for some reason that is the area of the body where "Pickers" like to start.... Watch for your little villain(s) before someone draws blood, Wonderful looking little birds.....I have always loved this breed.

Oh yes, I've been very aware of this. It's because they're previous brooder was waaay too small for them. They also had vitamin deficiencies which was a HUGE contributer to their feather eating.

But now that they have lots of space, sunshine, and vitamin water, all their pecking has seized.

I got mine from Marry Ann Harley. From what I've heard, she's one of the best breeders in the U.S.

saladin has good birds, too.
