Nankins

Very nice. Pity you live so far away I have SEVERAL rose comb roos that I'm trying to find a new home for, just don't like them as much as the SC's

Where do you from?

Yep, I think almost every Nankin in the US is at least partially related to MA's flock, but she does an awesome job and is incredibly nice tow ork with when ordering. All of my birds from here look great.

That's what im doing next year, by breeding nankins with Golden and silver Sebrights bantams to create new colors for fun.

Not to be a downer, but that would actually be working in reverse, the Golden Seabright was developed using the Nankin as its base colore and just introducing the lacing and henfeathering in the roos. LoL

It is a pity, about not living close enough, lol. I even called up the local 4H and FFA people to offer to donate the birds to anyone wanting to get into showing chickens and was promptly informed by all that none of them had EVER, heard of showing CHICKENS! I swear you could hear their noses tuning towards the roof as they said it.

Their loss :p Showing chickens is awesome. And, although I am technically allowed to have roosters (there are no laws against them) my dad wouldn't want one anyway :(

Yeah, I understand, I do have one RC roo that just outright wants to be a pet. He's figured out a way to escape the coop and is out side, right by the door every morning waiting for me and as soon as he sees me come running up and flies up onto my shoulder, and stays there until I have to shoo him off to do do something. This is my eternal punishment for giving extra attention to the runt. He was the last of my cockerels to make up his mind which gender he was. I thought he was a pullet for the longest time because he just never grew any roster feathers, no sickles, no hackles, no saddle, so comb or wattles, he even sat in the nest boxes with the pullets. but he was the most curious and brave/stupid

of the flock and would never run away from me, he's still the only one that actually eats out of my hand, unless it's mealworms then all bets are off, but I would feed him scratch out of my hand trying to build trust with the others. It worked all right, but then one day my super friendly pullet rared back and CROWED, and I think me and every other chicken in the coop stopped and and looked at him like "WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!" wasn't long after that till he finally put on his big boy clothes. And still he remembers me hand feeding him, lol. I think I will keep him just for personality and comic value even after I find homes for my other Rosecombs.
