I need advice my chickens won't come out there coop the nats are bad...what do I do to get rid of them and is there anything I can put on my chickens to keep them from bothering them? Thanks in advance!

The first thing I would do is clean the bedding. Then spray the floor with a water and vinegar or water and garlic solution to kill remaining larve.

Have you considered a deep litter method allows the good predator bugs to thrive? Also, consider Fermented Feed. It makes the poop less stinky and less attractive to flies and gnats. Plus health benefits for the chickens.

Vanilla ;) mix 1 part vanilla with 10 parts carrier oil, like grapeseed or jojoba...spray or use a rag to get around head, eyes, waddles... Will have to reapply every so often...6 hours or so if they seem annoyed...clean bedding and mist with the vanilla on roosts and by the door. The gnats hate vanilla...for mosquitoes do the same bur switch vanilla with lemon eycalyptus, or rosemary. Good luck! :)

I had this problem in my outside brooder. Try this:

2 Oz water
2 Oz white vinegar
15 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops eucalyptus essential oil
10 drops peppermint essential oil
10 drops tea tree essential oil

Stay it everywhere. It worked amazing in mine and killed all the knats. Good luck!
