Naughty rooster... Suggestions please? *Pic on p4*

Oh, his spurs have been growing in for a couple of months now. When he gets me, he draws blood. I don't see it as a big deal cause I'm used to dodging much bigger animals than him - think angry bulls! - but it IS a bit of an annoyance. I also have two younger rare breed roos that I DO intend to breed from eventually. They're only about 16 weeks and aren't crowing yet and so far he's left them alone but I think he might start beating up on them soon. If that happens, he's gone...

For that reason alone, he'd be gone from here. You may be used to dodging a mean rooster and much bigger animals, but a visitor to your home may not be. The kindest way I can think of is to lop his head off.

I have to agree!! I have one that will be taken care of this weekend. Today was the last straw with him drawing blood and DH said no problem putting him on the chopping block!

Yeah, that was another one of my concerns about his behaviour. Though every visitor to our place is well used to fending off attacks from the flock of angry big geese we used to keep. They were much MUCH worse than this rooster could ever be. And strangely enough, I've asked everyone who's been up here recently and none of them have had any bother with him. I seem to be the only one he's been having a go at. Probably cause all my hens follow me about for food and treats and ignore everyone else!

dont know if you got kids? this is my 2 year old, she got attacked by a roo. can u guess what happened to the roo? now thanks to that dumb roo she is afraid of ALL the chickens. she freaks if she can see one!

shes not afraid of the ducks, but of course their not the ones that attacked her.

the choice is yours. I feel ur pain. I had to off 2 roos for the same reason. and now my silkie gets cranky, thankfully he can only jump as high as my ankles.

sent my naughty Roo to the auction last weekend. It's SO nice to be able to walk around outside without worrying about getting attacked. I just wish I had done it sooner!!!! And he was a good Roo with the hens, took good care of them......but they don't seem to miss him at all.

We love animals! All of them ,.. we spoil them rotten,.. but hey,.. who's in charge of your yard?

It sounds like you have given him a chance,.. and a few lessons that he didn't pick up on.
He has had a good life and and now it's just time for him to pay you back as a stew, casserole or pot pie. Down here hew would be part of a roo and sausage gumbo!
