Glad that your 2-year-old showed him who's boss!

I actually have a 2-year-old niece who's not afraid of my roos at all, after I showed her how to deal with them.

I have to agree with the majority - I would get rid of him one way or another. The first mean roo I had we butchered, but he didn't taste very good and it was a pain. The killing part was really easy tho, using the 'cone' method - i used an empty milk jug and just cut the top off a little bigger. You can just put in him upside down (I fastened it to the fence) and slit his neck veins in both sides and let him bleed out. I think it is much more humane than chopping off the head. But the plucking is the most work. Otherwise, I would just sell him. NOT give him away - there is always someone out there who wants a roo for meat, and if he is good sized I don't think you will have any problem getting rid of him. Good luck!

I have a White Leghorn who did this with me until I knocked him across the coop with a broom 3-4 times. Now he sees me with the broom & he goes outside to the run.

Come on guys.....I have to disagree with most of you: there is NO need to kill him!

That's just giving up....unless he's hurting your kids, you can make him respect you, or sell him.

Well she could always sell him, especially if he's a really nice looking, breedable bird.

Hate to see a nice rooster simply killed....

i dont see a need to kill him find him as home wether it be one u get paid for or other i wouldnt kill maybe give him another chance and just show him again whos boss

I had a lovely Cochin roo I had to rehome because he constantly attacked from behind despite all my efforts to get him to stop. I was tickled that one of my pullets ended up being a roo so now I have a Barred Rock rooster. He attacked my four year old daughter yesterday. I'm going to give him every chance. I'll work with him like I tried with the last one, but I won't keep him if he's hurting my children. It's not worth taking the risk.

So many people have to get rid of sweet roos and then there are some of us that want and can have a roo but just can't find a nice one.

hi i know that your children come first but please try my suggestion sometimes we forget that the roos are animals and to keep order with animals we need to instil it with them so try doing what roos do to get pecking order with them let them know your the" king cock" as the saying is here
