NC/SC Someone please save my goose

I have thought of them, but I just wouldn't feel comfortable enough to let them re home her without me being able to see where she ends up. I do plan to contact them if I end up deciding to get her a friend instead. So Aryana, what do you have that you're trying to re home?
Ermer, I know you´re on another thread somewhere, so you may have already solved this...but, if you order a couple of pilgrim, or white sebastopol, or embden female goslings you should be ok, as these breeds are relatively easy to tell male and female, as the tiny males are lighter in colour to the females. I think that getting 2 babies could be good for the babies. Just my 2 centavos-worth. :)

Thank you for your input. I think I will end up getting a pair of female babies. I'm a little concerned though. If mine turns out to be a gander, would it be bad to have two females with him? If they mate for life, wouldn't the other female get lonely? I hate the thought of a lonely goose, but I also don't want too many. I'm moving mine to my boyfriends house since I just moved in there and he has a great area for them, but he was a little nervous about one goose, I don't want to push him too far with 4

Ideally geese like to be in a pair. But they´re fine in trios of one gander and two females. The least favourite female will just get left out a bit. With pilgrims, which is what I know about, the favourite female is really laid back and doesn´t make the other one suffer, other than that she took the least favourite´s goslings! Then the poor least favourite goose just had to wander around with the family group and get her goslings back when she could! this year she´ll have her own guy, but I don´t actually NEED to get her her own. They´d be fine in a trio.
And if your goose is a girlie, then 3 girls are absolutely no problem at all......Enjoy your gozzies.
AND, the bond between siblings is pretty strong, so one is not likely to isolate the other.

That's really comforting. In that case, if I don't find a home I approve of letting her go to with other geese then it looks like my Nelson is getting some sisters

Nelson´s a good name. Nelson does look a bit like a female, have to say, but then 'heshe' becomes Nellie, so no probs. I had a cat once called Nelson (he had both eyes), but he was so sweet we all called him Nellie anyway!!
I think you´ll keep her/him, as I don´t believe you´ll find a home you approve of.

Have fun!

Yea, I found someone with a good place for her but I just learned she's in Ohio so I'm pretty certain I'm keeping her. I can't part with my baby. I just love the name Nelson. And she knows her name. I just hope she takes to some babies and calms back down. After all the reading I've been doing she's apparently just getting testy from it being breeding season and she's alone. Thanks for the info and support. I just love the people on this site. Makes life a lot easier being able to reach goose people because lord knows there aren't many around here. And even fewer who do more than eat them
