They’re beautiful & fun, but I’m tired of the drama and want to go back to just hens. The two young roosters are getting old enough to really fight the established fellow, so I can’t keep them, and the top guy has decided my assistant is his mortal enemy, and she’s weary of the constant battles. I’d love to find a new home for all these boys. Free.
All have blue/green egg genetics, so any can add color to your laying flock. You can see them in action here (the video and sunny shots are from December, and the others were taken a couple hours ago. There was a big dust-up a couple days ago, so the bearded gents are somewhat less full-bearded than usual!).
The first 2 (both hatched in June) were nestmates, fine with people and safe to stay together if you want both. Winner Winner (white) is an Isbar from Greenfire lines from Beautiful Day Farms. He’s pure white, so a throwback, not suitable for a serious Silverud’s Blue breeding program, unless you’re trying to achieve something unusual, but fine for adding colored eggs to a backyard flock. Damon is an Easter Egger x Polish, hatched by our Ruby. His pop is the Easter egger rooster and his mom was PeeWee, our Polish lady, who is a good layer, even last year at 4 years old. Damon is a dreamboat, with unusual coloring and comb, thanks to PeeWee’s duplex and Francis/Not Francis’ pea both being expressed genes.
The other guy is Francis/Not Francis, an Easter Egger who randomly appeared at our place last spring, so I don’t know his age. He’s great with his hens, protective and chivalrous by rooster standards, not a relentless aggressive humper. Even with just 2 hens, he wasn’t wearing them out (no bald spots), and all the eggs Ruby hatched from him developed/hatched nicely, no duds. So I think he would be a great addition to a small flock of hens. But he has decided my assistant is his mortal enemy and has become a huge pain in the butt, and she can’t get any work done around him, so it’s time for him to go, before the warmer weather means less rooster-proof outerwear.
I’m in Harveyville KS. Thanks!
