Have you considered doing this during the Azalea Festival?

In the 1980's we held the Azalea Classic Poultry Show at the Muskogee Fairgrounds. Sadly the members dropped out afterwards and there were only a few of us left. It was a great show.

That's another good idea. I will put this into my idea trap for planning for next year. I've not been to the Azalea Festival. How many people usually attend?

I posted this on the Kansas thread so that anyone from our neighboring state will know what the rules in Oklahoma are for sales and swaps.

Here’s the text of the response I just got from Michael Herrin, DVM. The rest of his credentials are at the bottom of his message.

Coral Hale,

There are no requirements to have a "swap meet" for poultry, hatching
eggs, or baby chicks. There is no permit or testing required.

Any birds or eggs that cross a state line would require pullorum/typhoid
testing and a certificate of veterinary inspection.

Many of our Okie members are licensed testers. I will do my best to have at least one official tester at the event with testing supplies. I will also let people know that if they are bringing eggs or birds, and they are already part of the N.P.I.P. program, they should bring documents reflecting their current N.P.I.P. number.

Very good. I will have testing equipment there if you need someone to but it isn't a requirement I really wouldn't waste my time. Ntechnically if they are bringing the birds from any state into ours, the birds would have to be checked at the state line, OT once they are in the building.

Cost is generally 5.00 per bird since independent inspectors have to purchase their own materials. I can print off the forms so no one would have to bring their own.
Also, it will NOT certify the FLOCK, only the birds they bring in for THIS day. To be NPIP certified the inspector MUST visit the farm.
