Hello every one. I hope this is the right forum for this.

A fire started in the foothills not to far from where we live. Sometimes, when the fires get out of control ash falls and The air quality is horrible.

I'm wondering how this will affect my chickens respiratory system since I've become aware of how sensitive they are. Is there something I can do to help in these situations since fires are sadly common in our area?

Hello & welcome!

Short of locking them in the coop with a HEPA filtration system, I really don't think you can do too much about the air quality. If they have an outside run you could perhaps place a clear cover over the top to catch any falling ashes etc. Just keep a close eye on the birds and if they start with any symptoms of respiratory problems, put them in an enclosed coop with good air circulation. Best o'luck,
