Nebraska?

Yes we're here!

Its hotter here than San diego

The move went OK, we did well the first day, on the second day we had a tire blow out which put us back - third day had to be an 11 hour drive - which was rough - kids did very well, cats were ok most of the time, and the fish made it perky as ever! The poor fish had to spend three days in a sloshing cat litter bucket! (with a battery operated pump)

we're still living out of boxes, its been so hot to do any unpacking - and now the chicks arrived today, so nobody is doing anything but visiting with the chicks!

We have to get teh shed ready for the horse - Rosie is arriving at the end of September,

Thanks Aimee...

Perhaps you folks can fill me in on which predators I need to watch out for.

I'm in Central Nebraska, if that makes a difference - Between Valentine and North Platte.

ummm...everything but bears? And I havent seen chicken snakes here but not sure bout out west. And I have never seen a fisher cat, no panthers, either!

We have raccoons, possums, fox, coyotes, hawks, eagles, occasional badgers, skunks, bobcats. Hmm, bout all I can think of right now.

Anyhow welcome to Nebraska, Chelly!

I'm in Greenwood, Nebraska, just northeast of Lincoln, between Waverly and Ashland (Everyone around here knows where Waverly and Ashland is, but not Greenwood lol)

Moved here in January from Memphis, TN... y'all were talking about moving in the hot weather?? Try moving in the snow, when you've never driven in snow before, all day long from St. Jo, Missouri to Greenwood! Eek! I never want to drive in snow again!!! lol It was a whiteout as we were coming into town, I couldn't have done it if I hadn't been following my boyfriend, all I could see were his tail lights, couldn't see the side of the road even.

I love Nebraska, much more than the south where I lived all my life... but... I'm applying for jobs/housing at poultry farms right now, not limiting myself to this area... actually just applied at one down in Mississippi... so we'll see where I wind up... It'd be nice to be closer to my family again (but not *too* close lol) Hoping to possibly find something and get moved in maybe a couple of months... we'll see... just sorta taking it as it comes... Also looking at "farming abroad" things... they're pricey, but would be an awesome experience...

So you might move again Farmgirl? That would not be fun - make sure its not in january!!

I'm kinda lucky - I brought my job with me! I used to sit in an office all day, and now I log in on line and do my work while still in my PJ's!

(or less)

We had some NICE rain today, the chicks are not too thrilled, they had to stay inside!

I hope tomorrow is nice to get them out for a bit!

(we have something living in our shed, I dont' know what but I found its POOP - it had dug a hole under the larger shed - the shed I'm planning to use for my horse!)

Yep Chelly, will hopefully be moving again... I'd sorta like to stay in this area, but haven't had luck finding work here... since I need something that has housing... I'm on limited income right now, and can't afford rent, and well, even with working somewhere it's hard to make it on single income, so if I can find something that has housing it'd be a lot better.

I'm supposed to start school in Beatrice this fall, for Agriculture, but thinking I might have to put it off a semester till I figure out what I'm doing... I was going to do internet courses, but I think I'd still have to go in for exams so that wouldn't work...

I dunno, we'll just see where my higher power puts me I guess...

Any one heading to the State Fair! The Open Poultry show is today starting in a couple minutes. We have shown birds the last 3 years, but the fair wanted to keep them from Friday through Tuesday this year and I really did not have any birds ready to show. Plus, they throw up a large tent for a show room and it is not the best conditions.

Need to get out this morning and get some pics taken of some birds I would like to sell. Chelly has a request in for some BLR wyandottes - so I need to get them taken.

Aaron
