I was the tall kid in the grey sweatshirt that looked at the little buttons about a hundred times. I met the guy that sold the buttons (he may have been who you saw) and may have some silvers and whites shipped up from Kansas...

I was a little dissapointed that my silkies went for so little, (thats probably all they were worth,) but I would have rather kept them then let them go for that... But to even things out, I was amazed that the other ones went for 4.50 a piece!!

Next time, sell them separately. You will get the low price for the roo and much more for the hen. As a pair they will only go for what you would get for the roo. It's the hens that everybody wants. Unless the roo is very exceptional and there is somebody looking for exactly the roo you have, they will go cheap (especially in the fall). People will spend more on a hen at that auction.

I'm in Omaha! If I end up with chickens, I'll be the only person in the city I know with them. Even though this is Nebraska, you wouldn't believe the wierd looks I get when I talk about wanting pet chickens!

Edit: Looks like there are a few other Omaha/Bellevue people! I'm so excited! If any of you can give me permit info, I would appreciate it. We should have a party.

We should have a party! We get wierd looks when we say we have chickens. LOLOL Many people just have to see them to believe me! The neighborhood kids all love to come see them and feed them scraps and weeds.

I do advise anyone in Omaha to get a permit. I am thankful we did. We moved our girls outside on a Saturday about 5 p.m. and Sunday morning at 10 a.m. the Human Society was knocking on the door. One neighbor was not happy. The human society was so glad I had a permit! He came in and checked out the coop and run and said he himself was wanting to get chickens. Getting the permit is really easy. Here is the link: http://www.douglascountyhealth.com/publications/domanimalapp.pdf just in case anyone else needs it.

Our unhappy neighbor built an 8 foot fence and improved the look of my yard and garden tremendously!

The other 4 neighbors think the chickens are pretty darn cool!

I hope that helps!
