.2ml is the dose...a conservative dose for a two pound hen.

They're both ~6month standard cochins. My scale said 2lbs and 2.5lbs

Yes, all are sneezing and the one that recently died had an eye problem caused by it. Do you know what the correct dosage for the chicks would be?

If you really feel that they have a respiratory disease, then treat them. I am hesitant about treating chicks so small, but that is your decision to make. The Tylan50 can help with secondary infections.

For both chicks give them each 0.02ml 3 times a day. If you can only give it 2 times a day, then up the dosage to 0.03ml. Treat for 5 days in a row.

For your 2.0lb Cochin give it .36ml 3 times a day. If you can only give 2 times a day give .54ml.

For the 2.5lb Cochin give .45ml 3 times a day. If you can only give 2 times a day give .68ml.

Dosages are based on 20mg/kg given 3 times day or 30mg/kg given 2 times a day.
Tylan50 is fairly forgiving with dosing, so do the best you can to get the dosage as close as possible.

Thanks! There's something else killing these chicks but at least I can treat the respiratory issues. Every minute or so they sneeze.

Even the syringes were prescription only here! Luckily the pharmacist was nice enough to sell me a few after I told her they were for chickens

If they are sneezing that frequently, then it's probably best to treat.

I'm sorry but have not kept up with everything that was said here on your thread

If I remember correctly, you have treated with Corid as well?

I'm just brainstorming here - they seem to be o.k. with the heat you give them correct?
How fresh is your food - I know even if you buy a new bag at the store, sometimes a store can have old feed-does you bag have a date on it anywhere, does the feed smell "fresh"?
Any chance something in their area/environment is acting like an irritant -air freshener, cleaning products, aerosols, etc.?

I hate to hear your just really starting out and are having problems. Sometimes that happens when birds come from different sources. Birds may not show symptoms until they encounter some type of stressor - going to a new home, integration, coming into lay, etc.

Do keep in mind that respiratory illnesses are contagious (you know this), depending on which illness they have, they can be carriers for life even when recovered and can pass it along to other birds.
