Need a foster home for my chicken in Bronx, ny

It's always good practice to quarantine any new bought birds even if they look healthy. The move alone can often stress out a bird and introduction to new soil they are unfamiliar with can easily overwhelm their bodies. Even for the bird being quarantined, it is often less stressful to let them adjust to their new environment before being introduced to a flock which will fight with her till a new pecking order is established.

To all monitoring the situation.... My husband drove up to get her, she is eating chicken food, and in a box in my car on the way back home. Hopefully thing will go smoothly, and the owner will pick her up after he moves, perhaps with a few feathered friends that she meets at my house. I am glad there is such a way to ask for help on BYC, and am happy to do so. Roberta

OK, she's in the backyard (so much for the Q) and all my boys are putting the moves on her thru the fence. She seems happy, although she has a limp. It may be because she has been living in a cardboard box these past few days. Grass and chicken food... How good is that?
