I'm setting mixed eggs. I have EEs, Barred Rock, Barnvelder, and one Polish hen. They are all running with my sweet white Leghorn rooster. So, just some good ol' mixed breed backyard chicks

good luck this is only my second time setting eggs and was not planning on setting 50. Went to a friends to visit and ended up buying some eggs from here the other day. I told her I was not ready but did it anyway. what are friends for LOL.

I have them in a LG still air at 99.5 and I cover the top with a towel. Just heard the sunlight on them while in bator is not good and do not have a spare closet to put them in. Well I could use my craft room closet but it has my craft stuff in it and the room is a mess thanks to DH for putting crap in there that does not belong LOL

Not exactly on the 26th, but I set 15 Marans last week in my Eco and will be setting 24 Ameraucanas today in my Genesis.

The Ameraucanas were supposed to go in yesterday, but I am having trouble with the motor on the turner in my Genesis. Will have to hand turn my eggs until I can get a replacement motor.

Put in 8 ebay EEs yesterday morning and 5 straight from the hen Easter Eggers around 5pm, checked temp around 8:30pm 102 in a still air bator then checked again around midnight temp 106. This is Day One!! Are they dead already????
PS I do have a very small lower vent and an upper vent that were open-a fan next to bator for circulation.

This is my first time - set 10 last night - 6 from my EE I call Supergirl, as both she and her dark green eggs are giant, and the other 4 from my EE that lays a nice light green egg.
Dad is a black John Bleme Ameraucana, so his genes should improve the chance of getting blue egg laying EEs.
I am using these as a test before I buy some BBS Ameraucana eggs - wish me luck!

Set my first eggs today! Homemade bator holding temp great, but I live in Floridfa and the humidity is running 70% . hope this works out, I have backyard eggs from a neighbor, and plan on getting some better quality eggs after this trial hatch. Just hate to mess up even with these. .............stan

Careful with the towel. They need good air exchange to hatch! I actually suffocated a batch when I was first hatching.

I set 39 silkie eggs in my bator on the 26th. Hoping they hatch on St. Patricks day. First attempt at hatching silkies so not sure how well this is gonna turn out. Using a LG forced air incubator with egg turner. Temp is 99.5 - 100.00 and humidity is running around 50 right now. Good luck to all.
