Need A Hatch Buddy.. Anyone Setting Today 2/26?

Quote:
I put a towel over the curtain rod or closed the curtains. I ran 3 bators for 5 months last year. kept the towel over the window and had no tep spikes in any bator.

i have blinds on my windows guess I need to see if I have a dark sheet i can put on the window. problem is, where they are at its also the office but its mainly me in here. Dh is gone a lot and the girls have their own lap tops. I just have a lamp on right now. what I might do is fine some dark material and just lay it over the window area of the bator that will work just fine. Now to get my eggs room darken and into some egg cartons to help turn 50 eggs a lot easier they will be some happy eggs/chicks

I have a friend who uses egg cartons. she turns by elevating the right side of the bator and then the left. she is elevating the whole bator from the outside and because the eggs are in cartons they don't roll.

I plan on setting 3/1... (my first). I'm very happy to be following this from a couple days late! Thanks for the great info everyone!

I read that you let them sit for 12-24hrs at room temp, then put them in the incubator and don't turn them until day 3 so the air sacs may reattach. I'm new though- this is just what I read. Sounds logical to me so it's what I'm doing. Day 3 starts tomorrow morning!

I let mine rest a full day before I set em.I actually did read that too, so I am doing the same. Just to test the theory,I have 8 sitting large end up with no turner, and 4 in the turner. Cant wait to see if it made a difference or not

okay I remember doing this last year and cannot find my note book on my temps that I used.

Want to make sure this is right.. I am using an LG no air for my hatching.

my temp is at 99.5
humidity is at 45%
this is fine correct or do I need to bring it up to 50% humidity.

wished I could remember what the heck I did with the darn notebook.
I also remember driving myself crazy making sure everything went well last time too. I am just doing a lot more eggs this time.

thank you for that link..

Never thought of using an aquarium thermometer, darnit and just bought 2 for 6 a piece. Its okay I can always go back and get them for next time.

I think tomorrow I am going to set my in egg cartons and the pvc pipe. I did hatch my last ones in the egg carton and it worked out great.
I need to really make me a file for my hatching info so next time I know where it is.

Wished I knew about the paper towel idea last year would have been a lot easier lol than me trying to get water into the channels and did not open the windows thought they were not meant to be able to open. Have one that pops off it you lay it on its side. Now I know that is a good thing.

do remember mine being about 99.5 to about 102 last time. Darn where is that notebook.
this is the stage I really second guess my self but things turn out fine.

day 2 for me as well.
keeping fingers crossed for us both:fl:fl

I put 7 eggs in my homemade incubator on 2/26 as well. 2 copper Marans, 2 Ameraucana, 2 Barnevelder and 1 Lavender Oprington.

The best incubator is a broody Silkie!

This one has been off and on broody for about two weeks, but I *think* she's finally figured it out this time, considering this is about the third or fourth clutch of eggs she's had in that short time (she kept getting "bored" and coming off the nest, but she is still a teenager). This time she's been sitting for four days straight and has been getting up long enough to stretch her legs, poop, eat and drink, so I'm hopeful that this is it
