Need A Hatch Buddy.. Anyone Setting Today 2/26?

Thanks Jennifer. The water is going down, but I work 12+ hour shifts the next 3 days, so can't even start to clean up the mess until Friday. I hope my chickens are smart enough to stay up and keep their feet relatively dry. Our electricity stayed on (so far) so I haven't resorted to duct tape yet. I'm trying to keep the lid closed on my LG, but couldn't resist trying to candle one of the brown ones tonight. Veining! WOOT!

Of 8 shipped eggs 5 were clear!! CLEAR! No growth at all

. Of the 5 a friend gave me 4...FOUR were clear- no growth at all!! So of 13 eggs, 4 are growing. four. BUT I have 4 other shipped eggs now in the bator on day 2. Fingers crossed for these guys

Thanks chickie friends! I told myself I wouldn't be disappointed if I only had a couple growing but..... At least they all weren't bad! Maybe the new 4 are ALL good

Well, 3 of the 4 light green EEs are showing veins and I think a moving chickie (is this possible so early?), but I still don't know about the dark green ones - I can see air at the top, but not much else but the red glow.

I have the original 8 Rouen duck eggs (set on 2/24) and 12 barnyard mix chicken eggs (set on 3/3, so that they'll hatch at the same time as the ducks) in my LG without a turner. I know the LGs catch a lot of negative flack, but mine has been holding steady between 99-100 and 50% humidity the entire time (knock on wood). From the eggs I've candled thus far, they all seem to be doing well and thriving (I love watching the babies' development and to see them moving around in the eggs). I couldn't resist, and ended up adding 20 more duck eggs to my LG tonight, so I'll be having a staggered hatch of the duck eggs.

I also got my Brinsea 20 ECO today (a birthday present to myself), and set 26 eggs - 15 B/B/S Silkies and 11 barnyard mixes - in that tonight! Hatching season is definitely here!
