Need A Hatch Buddy.. Anyone Setting Today 2/26?

went to candle eggs from my broody hen. she only has 4 and they are overdue. reached under her and took 1 out. candled it and saw the chick in the air cell

. put it back quickly. she got up to eat and I saw 1 with a shell peeled like a grape. poor thing. I also heard peeping. figured out which egg the noise came from and held it while she ate. guess i'll find out tomorrow if anyone made it out.

Nothing to report from my incubator... that is good, I suppose! No funny smells, no power failures, no major temp spikes or lows... assuming my 3 thermometers are somewhat accurate. Day 10, so we are almost half way here. Time to start testing out our brooder in a few days.

It is raining again and the ground is still frozen. Finally got the flood mess from Monday completely cleaned up just in time for this. My chickens weathered the flooded coop followed by sub freezing temperatures well... they are even still laying. No new frostbite (my leghorn got a spot on her comb back in January when it was ~20 below for a couple days in a row). If the momma chickens are this hardy, the eggs and chickies just HAVE to survive my first attempt at incubating and hatching, right?

My heart is breaking for Japan this morning.

Well my Lavender Orpington eggs are due tomorrow!! YAY! I cant wait. All 12 were shipped, and all 12 had broken air cells. 11 made it to lockdown! I can hardly believe it. C'mon Babies!

Tonight will be day 20 for my FBCMs and still nothing.

I never candled any of them due to the light not going through the dark eggs, so not sure what is going on in there.

to get some action soon.

My Ameraucanas that were put in on the 27th are on day 12. I haven't candled them yet. Scared to. Have no reason to be scared though. The person I bought them from candled hers that she put in on the 28th and had 100% fertility.
