Okay Lock down for me is Monday.
Wow where did the time go seemed like I just put them in last week. And just hope because of not really paying much attention to the eggs thinking I had more time that I had not compromised the hatch. Had not been bringing up my humidity at all been at 20 -25% this whole time. Temp has been right on. Last night as soon as I realized where I was in the hatch i put in a wet warm paper towel in the bator and brought up the humidity. Love using the paper towel. When I open to bator to turn the eggs I take the water bottle that is in there with them and just spray it. when its lock down I will take a clear tube and attach it to a syringe and put water threw the tube and have it wet the paper towel.

I did go to our Trade Days today well one of the ones we have every month and bought me 4 EE's today they are about 3-4 weeks old. I have them in a dog crate in the office with me right now till i get the cage I want to use cleaned up a bit tomorrow. then they will go in there in the kitchen area. My babies will be here in the office away from these till I know things are fine.

I candled last night and had 4 that were no good. My good friend was with me today and also raises chickens and sells them as well I had her look at one that I was not sure of and she said it was not good. Stopped growing the first week or so.

now just waiting.

Lock down is monday for my batch too looks like a few of us are hatching together.

I saw a thread where someone said they used maxi pads so I am going to try that method during lock down to boost up the humidity.
I am trying not to be too overly excited but I am finding it difficult as we grow closer and closer to the 17th which is hatch day .

yes I used them last year and they wrk great. I will do that as well. But I was just thinking fast on my feet once i realized how close I was to hatching. I need to go and get them next to the bator so I do not forget. Still want to hook up a hose like you would use in the fish tanks and have it so I can inject water on to the pads/ paper towel with out opening the bator. Be thinking of you the next few day. Let me know how you do

LOL You will laugh I use a turkey baster to put water in through the top hole one on each side i can lean it to one side and wet the other and lean it the other way to wet the other one on the other side. I got it up from 45 % to 60 % doing just 3 pads I am going to add an additional 3 on the other side of the bator to see if I can get it any higher.

Good luck with your hatch

Sorry about your birds and their house. I only have eggs in the bator at this point so I don't have any advice....just a good luck wish!

Just wanted everyone to know that moms, puppies and eggs that were in lockdown made the trip safely. Out of 13 eggs that were in lockdown and plugged into an adapter in the van 11 hatched including a showgirl. The trip was over an hour and everyohe did very well. The two eggs that didn't make it were early quitters. It just goes to show you that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I now have 42 more of 1Chickmagnets eggs doing very well. Janet, all Mischiefs eggs are fertile!!!!

Thank you! Someone on the "disease" topic suggested Wazine, so I searched that instead of de-wormer and got SOOOO much good info! I love BYC! I got my Wazine today and will dose my ladies in their morning water. I'll try ivermectin next week if I can get enough info on the dosing by then! I'll also get some food grade diatomaceous earth to use on the floor, next boxes and areas that they use as wallows. Happiness is healthy birds!
