Need A Hatch Buddy.. Anyone Setting Today 2/26?

I don't think you need to worry. What day are you on? Anyone pip yet? If there is no pips and you can work quickly just take the turner out. If you have pips already happening, just make sure to turn the turner off. The bad thing about leaving the turner is that they fall and get stuck in the holes.

Good Luck on your hatch!

Hey thanks. I did turn the turner off, but I did not take it out. I've never used an incubator with a turner. I always hand turn them. I guess I will go take them out now. They should start to hatch tomorrow. If they are going to hatch at all.

Good luck, just give them a chance I am sure it will be ok

I took the turner completely out and put the eggs on the wire on the bottom. These are little Serama eggs. I know they were developing but they felt very light when I just moved them.

I really hope a couple of them make it at least. There is a possibility of frizzled Seramas.

Pretty sure I have a slightly weeping egg that doesn't stink on day 18. How do I know for sure? Will it smell bad before it explodes? Or is there a chance of explosion and no smell??? Freakin' out here.

I candled last night and out of 42 of Janets eggs, 2 had blood rings, 4 were clear and the rest have swimmers.
I will candle the other bator in a couple of days. I just put them in on the 12th and 13th.

Hey everyone.
I have been so busy with work and getting ready for the baby, I forgot all about lock down coming up. I am not sure what day I am saposed to lock them down. I set them on the 27th late at night so would I lock them down on the 18th or 19th? I have done hatches befor but for some reason I am forgetting the details. I am blaming in on being preggers lol.

I put mine in late on the 1st, so I'm doing lock-down on the 19th. Trying to be patient! Really? Maxi pads? I thought they were supposed to "lock the moisture in so you stay dry!" LoL. I was going to put a damp rag under the wire mesh and paper towel on the mesh and keep them all moist with a funnel and a straw. This is my first time... it's an LG still air, so tell me if there is something wrong with this idea!

Hi,
You are supposed to lock -down on day 18. I also set mine on the 27th at night. I am going to start my lock-down on the afternoon of the 17th so that I can get the humidity up by that night which will be day 18.

Good Luck on your hatch!

Nothing wrong with your idea. It's what I did last year. This year I did try the maxi pads and feel humidity held up a lot better for me. I barely had to add water. I did move into a new house and not sure if that had anything to do with it though.

I am going into lock-down in two days with my second hatch of the season and will try the maxi pads again.
