Need A Hatch Buddy.. Anyone Setting Today 2/26?

my lock down is tomorrow. Will do it tomorrow night when I turn them for the last time at 8pm just before I go to bed. Then hopefully by the weekend I will have baby chicks.
I am trying to figure out a way to make dividers in the bator so I can keep the different breeds separated I am afraid that I am not going to know what is what LOL

I did the same thing about my humidity. thinking I had plenty of time till I looked at the calender this week that my hatch will start this weekend and my humidity had been at 20-25% but Its been brought up sense then. I have another bator an old Leahy and was thinking of using it as a brooder have temp at 95% is that to high for them?

My mom even called to see if it was lock down yet LOL. Will need to post pics on face book for the family to see what I have been doing.

If anything ( liquid ) is coming out of any egg I would get rid of it. Unless its time for it to hatch

The egg has, well, crystalized whatever on the side! I put them on lockdown today so I candled this morning and rubbed it off, it looks to be back but I haven't taken it out again. There isn't any more of it than this morning but I don't know what to do....When I candled it, there was something that looked like a large vein near that area. But that was the only real vein I saw. There was a bit of space left inside on the pointy end too. Day 18.

OK - eggtopsey results show probably a day 5-7 quitter. When I first cracked it I thought I saw blood and black feathers!! But no, sad but I'm glad that's over with.

I'm on the same schedule. I'm planning to use plastic trays to keep them separated and hope the chicks can't climb too well in the beginning.

95 is perfect for the first week, then lower 5 degrees each week. Good luck with your babies!

I don't think you need to worry. What day are you on? Anyone pip yet? If there is no pips and you can work quickly just take the turner out. If you have pips already happening, just make sure to turn the turner off. The bad thing about leaving the turner is that they fall and get stuck in the holes.

Good Luck on your hatch!

Hey thanks. I did turn the turner off, but I did not take it out. I've never used an incubator with a turner. I always hand turn them. I guess I will go take them out now. They should start to hatch tomorrow. If they are going to hatch at all.

What day are you on?

deana,

I bought some little plastic easter baskets to seperate breeds. they are open weave all the way around. they are about three inches long. I turn them upside down and set them over the eggs on the wire mesh. chicks hatch and stay inside the inverted baskets. because of the open weave I can see into them through the bator window.

I have a pip!!!!!! And someone peeping at me from inside the bator!!! So hard to not reach in there and pull them out! One pip so far and day 20.

Black Silkie. If he/she is the first one out...the name will be UNO!
