Need A Hatch Buddy.. Anyone Setting Today 2/26?

buckaroo's wife :

I have 13/17 that have hatched. One died after zipping and no news from the other 3 eggs....how do you do a float test?

I followed these instructions and I can see 2 bopping around today (day24!). I had a third one I floated the other day and it sunk (I know it had a good air cell). I pipped it and it was alive, not anymore. It was small and there was a lot of fluid but it might have hatched if I would have left it.... Anyway, if I have another sinker, I think I'd candle at that point before trying to do an eggtopsy. Lesson learned!

Mine have stalled at 6 hatched. They fluffed up a little, and no others looked imminent despite lots of pips, so I removed them to give room to the other 26 eggs. I felt ok taking them out through the window ninja-style (fast) because the humidity was too high anyway at 78%. After taking them out I watched, and it dropped to 69% and over the next 3 minutes climbed back up to 73%. The two that pipped last night and stopped are still stopped. Another has pipped with it's beak all the way out. How is it going to turn with it's beak all the way out like that? Why do some start and stall while others burst out around them? I know that's the million dollar question. Now I'm afraid no more will hatch despite the pips and tappings. I have several new pips that do appear normal in placement and stuff and hear the pecking. Trying to hold onto hope. Has anyone else experienced a spurt of hatchings, then a slow down, and still had a good hatch with the rest? I'm such an anxious nervous wreck. I was really trying hard not to meddle. I AM happy that 6 made it. For a newbie first hatch, I'm grateful to have any make it out of their shells.

Awww... don't feel so bad.. out of 24 that I set only 2 hatched. I had 2 that were still alive at lockdown and saw no more rocking yesterday. I opened them this morning and they were gone too. I think one that I opened would have made it if I helped sooner, it was fully formed and had absorbed the yolk. It was just in a horrible position, and twisted. Guess it wasn't meant to be

do not feel bad i had two die on me as well they were fully developed and out of the shell. I had to get them out of the bator when i got home. but so far so good. have one trying to hatch now.

Oh, well, maybe next time...all the rest of mine were actually early quitters, except one dark green one that I had not been able to see through when candling. Did eggtopsy, they seemed to be about half-sized, guess they stopped mid-way thru.

. Just have to concentrate on the meaties, and stop by TSC, see what they have.

Sold all mine yesterday and total was 29 out of 41. After eggtopsy I found out that several of the non hatchers were not fertile. Never got around to candling mine. Helped one hatch and he is doing great.
Forgot to get a pic. befor they left!

Might still be able to if I can get around to getting over to my sisters house, she bought them.

Over 24 hours since the first hatch and mine are still hatching. Slowing down now. Looks like it's going to be 50%, but they weren't due today so I'm still holding onto hope for a second wave of hatchlings.

mine are still hatching as well.
so far I have 12 and lost 2.

I have 19eggs still in the bator. They all started hatching Saturday night around 6pmish. Should I let them go 1 more day or go ahead and take them out. I have not had to hatch this many before, and not sure how long is long enough I have heard at least three days. I was expecting to come home to no one else hatched and they were all done. but was surprised with another one.
they are curled up next to an egg, sleeping and drying off. I have a barred rock X Welsummer I think and he is tiny compared to the rest. Need to see if a can get some good pics with my phone and post.

I'm done, we ended up with 61 chicks in all!
on my own eggs it was a 65% hatch and on eggs from else where it was more like a 35% hatch.

so I'm going again! more of my own. trying to get ahold of some rocks, but no such luck.

we need more than 61 chicks I'll tell you that though. we're also changing some things with the 'bator, we had some wakky temps and I was to care free

Lavender Orps, Marans, EEs...had 6 LOs that quit/never started. Lots of weird air cells! Worried about some of these
