need a QUIET breed of ducks

Also - I have found that the best way to keep your neighbors happy is free eggs every now and then along with sampling of roast duck. Now my neighbors purchase eggs and the occasional duck to eat. No problems!

Thanks. That is good advise. Guess I'll try raising muscoveys. They are just so dang UGLY! guess its easier not to make them into pets that way!

X 2 with GQ and ML. Muscovy caruncles grow on you.

I don't even notice it. Whenever caruncles come up in a discussion I have to go outside to look at my ducks and see how much/little they have.

When I had my scovies I thought they were gorgeous! Well, not the drake, but he was an old grouch anyways. If you do switch to muscovies, do yourself a favor and get them as ducklings. I got mine as adults and they hated me! The drake was always biting my legs. I had to get rid of them when the drake tried to kill my roo. All but one are now living happily on a good friend's pond. The other went to live with another good friend to keep her Pekin duck company. She loves it there and just hatched out babies. :) Now I have 2 adorable ducklings (that like me) and everyone is happy.

My pekins use to be so loud when we first moved to our new house, but they are pretty quiet unless startled or they are hungry. They are no louder then my neighbors dogs so they really can't complain. My ducks quack when I pull in the driveway, or when I am bringing them food or if I forget to feed them but other then that there isn't too much noise.
My black Swedish female is much quieter I hardly ever hear her. Makes are also pretty silent so it just depends if you want eggs or not.

Usually ducks are not that noisy. They can be and sometimes are, but their usual sounds are not loud enough to make neighbours complain so if your neighbours are not peculiar almost every breed should work except for call ducks.
But if you really need some quiet ducks, go for muscovies as the others here already suggested. If you get them as ducklings, you will fall for them and even still like them when they become "ugly". I personally love the carcuncles, the yellow eyes, the mohawk, the large feet and just the size of them...remembers me of dinosaurs

I've decided on muscovy's. I was at the park today and noticed a bunch swimming around in the water. They aren't as ugly as I remember. Not wanting them so much as pets but for the eggs and meat. Thanks everyone!
