Not good I fear, get it out of there and give it a good sniff. But today I see something oozing from this crack. Is this bad or good?
It probably will not smell good, but rotten.

AhhhRATS!!Thanks for the advice. We actually candled all of our eggs to sadly realize they were not going to hatch.
Super sad. Confused about what went wrong. Will educate myself more before trying again. I think the biggest challenge for a newbie is the overwhelming amount of different information out there. Thanks everyone for your help!
There is a little hatching book you can get to read through. I've hatched lots of eggs but sometimes things still go wrong. It's called Stromberg guide to hatching. They are a hatchery out of Minnesota. A good incubator is a great investment.
I was wondering about that too...those foamies can be impossible to get clean after awhile. They may smell clean when dry but once you heat and humidify them...P-uuuu!Am I correct in assuming that was bacteria and it is possibly what caused the eggs not to hatch?
I thoroughly cleaned the bator last night and there's ZERO smell to it now - which confirms my theory that it was not properly cleaned when we received it.
Probably it sounds pretty gross. LOL.Thanks for the recommendation - will look it up. The more I think about everything that transpired the more I believe we had an incubator that was not properly cleaned before we put our eggs into it. Being a first-timer, the bator had a smell when we received it from the group. I just thought that's how they smelled due to hatching eggs. There were also brown droplets of this sap like stuff that would form in the viewing windows and in two of the water troughs, the water would turn yellow/brown. We lost several eggs prior to lockdown due to eggs seeping this honey-like sap. Am I correct in assuming that was bacteria and it is possibly what caused the eggs not to hatch?
