I have 24 ISA Browns that are almost 6 weeks old. I have had major problems with this breed before with egg eating and pecking each other so much that I decided to have their beaks trimmed this time and see if this bad behavior stops. When they arrived I examined their beaks and they all looked fine, nicely rounded and smooth edges.
Well today I notice on one of them that her beak had very jaggered edges so I picked her up to get a closer look. Not only is it jaggered but it is cracking also. I decided to look further into this and discovered that all of their beaks are just like this. What happened? Why does the ends of their beaks look like the edge of a sereaded knife? Should I try and file them or what should I do?
Any and all help greatly appreciated!
