I discovered this just a few days ago when just doing routine foot check - it's on the fleshy part right under the middle toe-nail. It actually looks a little larger to me in the photo than in person, but nonetheless it has a little brown scab and a swelling compared to the other foot. I've been soaking and applying iodine for three days now but I'm unsure of how to proceed, mostly because it's in a spot that is so difficult to see and I don't know how I would wrap it if I pulled the scabby part off. It doesn't seem to affect the duck, but obviously I don't want it to get worse. Has anyone experienced before and is there any advice?

It’s def had some trauma. I’d probably soak an try an work off the scab then use wrap like you would if in another area on the foot you’ll have to wrap the whole foot anyway to keep her from getting any wrapping off.

Okay, thanks, I will try. I've only ever bandaged with the wrap exposing toenails

Thanks - I do own a pair of those in the open-toed style :hmm. I'll try wrapping it first and if that doesn't work I'll order the closed toed.

Our protocol (thanks to @Miss Lydia , @Isaac 0 , @casportpony et al) is epson salt baths 3x a day. If the baths don't resolve the issue, and if there is workable scab (and it looks like there may be), we consider getting that scab off and cleaning it out. We prefer the less invasive approach of soaking and gently working the scab, but I know others like to get in there with a sterile scalpel. Either way, glove up and use sterile gauze. As said above, you'll need to wrap it until it heals up some. We've used gauze and then vetwrap with some success, but boy have we found it tough with a duck. This thread was helpful to us when we had to wrap a duck's foot:

This is also a great thread (and appears to be similar to that with which we dealt with one of our ducks):

Either way, good luck, and please keep us posted!

I have them they worked great when my Runner had bumble but I had to reinforce the Velcro with tape. They can get out of just about anything:rolleyes: I bought from Crazy K and didn’t get the completely closed in shoe

Same for me and the velcro. I use vet wrap, though. Otherwise it takes my duck 5 seconds to remove the shoe!
