need advice on treating ducks that were attacked

Pics
Yep my friend when I was a child had a duck named Fred and they lost him and 2 weeks later they found him splashing in a pond lol! They knew it was him because they had tagged him (the band with the number on it) and it was on his foot with the exact same number.
Wow! Blanche is the only one that's ever been out overnight. She got in the BIG creek and swam off with another duck (despite me swimming, in April, in water that was sometimes over my head, trying to get her back). She finally showed back up the next morning, swam straight towards me and just stopped and started playing along the bank next to me. You better believe I jumped in fully clothed and took her misbehaving feathered butt right back home!
Billie would be incredibly easy to identify if I found her - something scalped her as a baby (I know think it was those d**n rats... didn't know I had them at the time), and when she healed it pulled her eyelids close together... poor baby is really goofy looking. That and the white around her neck. Oh, and her silly quack... God I miss that quack. I don't even think I ever got it on video :hit it always made me grin from ear to ear and chuckle no matter what I was doing or what kind of mood I was in. Man, I really hope she is okay out there somewhere...

That head looks bad or is that just the dried blood? I bet they are very sore too. Poor little things. Sounds like this bath time was much better!!
Mostly just dried blood...I still can't tell exactly where the wound is. Considering snipping away the matted parts, buuuuttt...not yet. Maybe in a few days if she still hasn't gotten it cleaned up.

Good they are dunking their heads, shows good activity levels....
....I think, I don't know ducks.
Maybe dab/blot it a bit while it's wet.

Yes, it makes me feel better when they splash and flap around. :) Blanche was still by far the more subdued of the 3 though.
It's early days, yet. Mine took several days to really turn the corner. I wanted them to be okay faster, but they needed more time to recover from their trauma. That blood matting may be covering a large "road rash" type injury and protecting it from being raw and exposed. It was a full week before the matted blood on my ducks started getting noticeably washed away by grooming and bathing. Now, on day eleven, it's virtually all gone. It looked really bad while it was still there.

I'm not saying what you should do, but just trying to encourage you with the fact that my girls, who looked awful for days, are recovering faster and faster, now, eleven days post attack. Those first few days were pretty stressful for them and us.

If yours are doing that well then I'd say Blanche will be fine too, but there's always that nagging worry...
The other two cleaned up pretty well really, especially Rose. The matted bloody mess does make it look worse than it probably is (at least I hope). You're right, I'm not gonna mess with it any more than the wet washcloth now and then. It really is just me wanting them to be better faster (or at least look a little less scary).

Anybody have any idea how much water they should be drinking each day? I'll Google it too, but if anyone knows when I should start to worry, please let me know. I gave them a fresh 3 cups of medicated water this morning, probably 10am or so, and last time I glanced it looks like they've maybe drank a cup of it? I'm about to try bathtime, I'll let you all know how it goes.
Okay, now I'm worried...most places online say they drink about 4 cups a day each (one even said 8:eek:)! They have only drank 1 cup between them all in almost 12 hours, with the exception of what they drank while they swam, which I guarantee was nowhere near enough. Is this normal/okay??
