Wow, that's awesome that yours are doing so great so quickly! Nobody here is going back outside unless it's daylight and I'm home until I get the pen secured. I think I have a plan now.I'm glad to see your ducks doing so much better. Preening was a big sign that they were doing better, even though they didn't eat much for longer than I felt comfortable with. Mine are frolicking out in their pen, now, 2-1/2 weeks post-attack. They eat like crazy and two are now laying again.
I'm sure it feels better to have seen the vet you trust and already had a relationship with. I feel pretty sure we would have lost at least Nipper and possibly FG if we hadn't gone to the emergency vet. At that point, shock was our biggest danger. We had not ever had any need to take ours to the vet before this, though I knew our dog vet practice has a vet that can see birds. I do like the avian vet we have been seeing since the attack, so I'll keep using him, though I hope we never have to see him again!
I hope your Blanche, Rose, and Tony keep healing and will soon be frolicking, too.
Oh, glad you got bandage off, was worried it was 'glued' on good!!Okay, this isn't as bad as I thought, as bloody as that bandage was and as much as he was wrapped up
Oh it was! It didn't come off all day, so I tried spraying with veterycin, still wouldn't budge. So I let him go for a swim - it was off before the water even got high enough for him to float, lol.Oh, glad you got bandage off, was worried it was 'glued' on good!!
Man, hard to know if the matting helped....it didn't seem to hurt, but may have eventually.I know the vet was worried about infection underneath all the matted feathers
Baytril twice a day and Meloxicam once a day for a week, just a smidge of Neosporin on the wounds til they heal.Man, hard to know if the matting helped....it didn't seem to hurt, but may have eventually.
What is the treatment protocol from this vet for here on out?
