Need advice with Tension/Migraine Headaches

Well yesterday I broke down and got a massage. Told the guy be as rough as you need to.... ended up my shoulders and neck were all knotted up. Once that was loosened out I felt like I had been beaten by a 2x4 but I drank a bunch of water last night, and all the kiddos and us played Scene it till midnight or so. Today the headache is gone!!!!

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I have a great starting point to go on from here on out

For ladies, this work awesome but not sure if men are willing to do the same. Nice warm bath with chamomile bubbles or any type of floral bath liquid. Turn off the lights, use only candles and play soft music. After soaking for a few minutes, the migrane should fade then start reading a book. AAAAHHHH... works everytime!

You MUST try some alternative treatment. Go find an acupuncturist, a chiropractor, SOMETHING! You can't just endure it...that's awful.

I've tried the chiropractor on several occasions and they don't help at all, will have to see if I can locate any acupuncturist around here, its to the point I will try almost anything to get rid of these things.

JM, is it just migraines or is it body aches or leg cramps also?

LOL, my husband does it LOL! The smelly stuff is more for calming the nerve or "SOUL" as people call it. Helps you relax. You can also get some bath pebbles which works wonders on the muscles.
My husband is a HARD CORE redneck! but he is a marshmellow when it comes to me drawling him a bath, he falls asleep in there EVERYTIME! ***SHHHH don't tell him I told you....****

Yeah, Boyd, the knotted muscles play havoc with the migraines, either via nerves or circulation. Chiropractors can help with that, too.

Since no one has mentioned my newest discovery, found somewhere on line, it's cayenne pepper. Sounds crazy, but if you take a pinch (small!) and "snort" it, it gets into your blood stream quickly through the nasal mucous membranes, and stops or reduces the pain! Theory is, it interferes with the brain chemical connection that makes us feel the pain, anywhere. I had to try it to believe it, but it works! Buy a jar in the spice dept, or some capsules in the vitamin dept -- convenient and easy to just pull apart the 2 part capsule for a sniff. Then, get ready to sneeze for a while!

Before that, Rx drugs did nothing to help, only a couple Excedrin IF I caught it within the first few minutes, as someone else mentioned.

G'luck!

I get the bad headaches/migranes, usually monthly.
Sometimes, they are bad enough to make me nauseous. I also, use the soak in the hot tub, submerse my head to just past my ears and lay a cloth over my eyes (lights off) for as long as I can stand the heat.

I have taken so much ibuprofen it kills my stomach. Tylanol knocks the edge off and Aleve is a joke. I can't tolerate asprin either.

I have used the Chiro and that helps. I have extremely tense neck and shoulder areas. When I able to go see him once a month on a regular basis, it really helps.

I have gone to a massage therapist, would love to go again, but can't afford it.

this is what i use, min of 800 mill. Motrin, 2 Excedrin, 2 sudafed and the hottest water I can stand pouring on my head. the pill are every 2 hrs till I can live with the pain, also I put menthol-camphor on my temples and neck, been getting these since I was 4 yrs old, none of the prescriptions work actually make them worse, some last 10 days, the only advantage to these headaches is I've got a very high pain tolerance
