Need Advise Please New to this site and chickens

My daughter & I are very new to this site and to chickens.

My daughters 2nd grade class learned about the chicken process from developing in the egg to hatching and watching the process while in class which started to hatch on May16, 2022. We adopted 2 of them and the teacher stated they are both french copper marans half ameraucana.

We are worried that taller one might be a cockerel. I understand its hard to figure out the gender at 4 weeks, but any help would be appreciated on figuring out the genders with the photos I have attached.

Hello, welcome to BYC. That comb is rather large and pink, I would guess cockerel.

It may be a cockerel, but don't worry too much. It's very hard to tell for sure until they're about 10wks. I have 9 chickens that I hand raised, and for a while I was convinced that more than one was a cockerel. My ladies are now about 4 months and they're all girls! Keep us updated on your new feathery friends and best of luck!!

Thank you so much fo all the help. We are hoping the one will not be a cockerel, as we have been spending so much time with them and are becoming attached LOL. I'll keep updating & hopefully we have 2 olive egg layers.
