Need bigger brooder, ideas for making a lid for this?

I have nine guinea keets and at 2 weeks old they are outgrowing the brooder I made. It is the largest plastic storage tote with a lid that they make (39.5 inches long). I found this and thought it would work great (as I need something quick, no time to build) but wondered how I could create a lid for it that could not be knocked off? Any ideas would be appreciated or if you have another quick fix idea.

Just make a rectangular frame that will fit on top and set something slightly heavy on the center cross support.

hmm....bird netting?

have you tried letting your birds outside in a pen during the day? I brooded 8 birds that way last year for close to 8 weeks. They slept in a 2x4 tote for the entire 8 weeks, but were outside in a playpen during the day.

You could get some netting like for a soccer or hockey goal and put a ratchet strap all the way around the tub to cinch it in place. Bit of a pain, but nothing to build.

2" x 2" 2" or 1 " x 2" rectangle with hardware cloth stapled on just make it 4" 6" x 3' 2" good luck .

I got a watermelon bin for free at the grocery store! (Called first & they put it out back). It’s about 15 square feet. I put garden wire on top fastened with binder clips!

I made a rectangle to fit the top. I then cut rafters for each end. With the top beam running full length. I covered the top with half hardware cloth. I hang my feeder and water fount from the center beam.
