Need DIY duck pond ideas!

I don't know what zone you are in, but plant some salvias and you will have hummingbirds galore! We don't have a single feeder and at any given moment there are 4-6 zooming around... Mostly Anna's, but some Rufous showed up this year. Beautiful. They can't fine you for landscaping, can they?

They can if you don't get their approval for it first. Also, I live up north and the hummingbirds here depend on those feeders for survival come wintertime (they've lost their migratory instinct for whatever reason). I'm thinking of just putting up a hanging plant, even a fake one and placing a feeder hidden from view behind it.

I can't imagine they'd even know if you put it outside a back door or window... what the hell do they do, conduct surprise inspections? Do they show up with a ruler and measure your grass? I'd owe them a fortune for the state of my lawn!

We don't have backyards as it's a lakefront townhome property. I honestly do think that these ******** take mental note of everything when they go for "walks" around the lake each day. I've seen one particular neighbor whom I know is on the board do this, walk veeerrrrrry slowly past my balcony staring right into my window.

This is my first house, and I honestly didn't know homeowner's associations could be this bad. I've spoken to other friends who own houses and they tell me that HOAs are always full of insane people that could never get positions of power otherwise, but they also admit that mine takes the cake.

maybe a kiddie pool (easy to dump out and refill daily) behind a lattice screen.....position the screen so that someone would HAVE to come into your yard and walk around the screen to find the pool. Leave dirt or grass under the pool, maybe - but inexpensive flat pavers from Lowes as a little patio leading to it. Can build a permanent lattice or just stake one in place or have one that stands on its own - a folding one. And if not lattice - maybe just a screen made of shutters hinged together - it's movable so they can't complain that it's permanent, etc etc.....otherwise I'd move....that HOA sounds ridiculous.
Or you could build a floating duck house and tether it to your stretch of lake frontage. Would they have any say about that?
Good luck.

Nibbler in his powder room...
SO CUTE!!!! I live how his little feets are wrapped around the lip like that! XD
Methinks they would not like that at all :)
You are correct! The lake is considered part of the property. As for the lattice they'd probably yell about that too if a little bamboo gets their knickers in a twist. It's almost as if they don't want me to put up anything that will block visibility into my own house! Creepy!
