I got all the supplies I need. I fed him one drop of the polyvisol and rubbed some vitamin E on his beak (figured that won't hurt since he did injure his beak a bit coming out of shell. I also gave a tiny bit of pedialyte. He's now breathing hard but trying to nap with eyes closed.

I'm now freaking out that maybe I should have made sure he was completely upright?

How does this 'asphyxiation' happen ? Is that because their neck is backwards and they can't eat like in that position?

Help! How can I properly administer these vitamins? I am now scared that he's panting a bit because of what I just did.

If you get the B complex it can be given as an injection. I'm not sure of the dose, but you'd give it into the thigh, and there would be no chance of aspiration that way.

Aspiration happens when instead of going down the esophagus, it goes down the trachea into the lungs.

well, maybe i panicked too soon. By the time husband got home, he was standing up alert with no bent neck. I hope he can continue down this path.

That is good news.... Make sure he has plenty of fluids. I think sometimes vitamin issues are really dehydration issues although I don't know particularly in this case.

Good news, he was standing up and alert, and continues to do so. Symptoms are lessening. Thank you polyvisol!!! He ate some more this morning plus a tiny bit of pedialyte. Rubbed more vit E on his poor beak. I'm very hopeful.. I didn't want to name him yet so he's still A... But now I'm wanting to come up with a name
