God bless you for your kindness and concern!

They'll calm down in time with some TLC.
Just make their environment as stress free as possible until they settle in.
Some food, sunshine, grass, LOTS of fresh water and love will make a big difference.
I don't know anything about Embdens other than I saw one at a show once and I think it was big enough to saddle up and ride!

Best wishes and I look forward to following their progress!

hahaha oh boy!!! Free riding lessons!!! Well, they sold me poultry feed. I didn't notice until I got home. I do have 17% protein layer developer chick food unmedicated I gave them. I guess this is OK until I get waterfowl food in the morning.

YAY!!!! so glad that you got them!!!! and yes i'm sure they are all worked up. give them a dark place to sleep and tomorrow they will be as good as gold. let us know how it goes and dont hesitate to ask questions - we all want to help!

YAY you!!!!

and yes the Embdens are big big big! thats what my gander is - i just love that old galoot!

just make sure they have a deep bucket of water - a kiddie pool will put them over the moon... get them out on the grass and they will entertain themselves.

ps you can give them a little corn
;-)

I do have a question. I am a little nervous tonight since I have them in a dog kennel type cage within a run area with no top. DH said I should put them in the covered chicken run at night. Only having chickens I know to quarantine any new animal before putting in the same area.

So my question is, do you think it is OK to put the geese in the chicken run at night them let them out during the day? Then let the chickens out?

Hi,
Yes, I would keep them someplace totally secure. Can you keep them in your garage until you have them all set up. I'm afraid something might get to them if not in a covered, secure area. Can you just keep them in the dog kennel - in your garage?

Do they have different type diseases? Sorry for sounding so clueless....but was thinking maybe it would be OK to mix the breeds and not worry about quarantine.

Thank you. I will keep them separate. Here are some pictures from yesterday when I got them home. Do they look as bad as I thought or is this normal feather growth for a 5 week old?

They are drinking so much water and seem to be settling in but very nervous. They seem to stumble a lot. I hope this is normal, or maybe I am overanalyzing. Then again they have never walked around and have been in a small cage for 5 weeks. Any advice or input is appreciated!

Oh are they sweet!
They do looked pecked, but they will fill in just fine. Make sure you hold them and talk to them. Once they know your voice they will be thrilled to see you!
I was going to add that my geese won't go into housing at night. I have dogs so I don't worry so much about predators. I have Toulousse, and they do not fly. be aware they grow FAST. they will be BIG quickly. They will stick in their "pack" too.
Good luck!!

(I am gonna guess 2 boys and a girl... just a guess tho)
