NEED HELP ASAP! CHICKEN WITH BLOOD COMING OUT ITS EYE! PICS *update*

Honestly, is it worth it? I would be concerned for your other birds. CRD is evil and it does not just go away. Over time the levels of virus being shed likely drops but when a bird is activly sick it will be exposing others to lots of shed virus. There is a potential also the sick bird may act as a host or incubator for other infections. To continue to treat the chronic bird is a big risk for strengthening the virus and any secondary bacteria infections possibly developing more antibiotic/antiviral resistant strains in your flock.

I am with Clay Valley Farmer on this one. I don't treat respiratory illnesses. I cull sick birds. It is for the protection of the current flock and for any future birds you may get. A sickly flock takes a great deal of maintenance to upkeep- that's time, money and resources that could be better served with a healthy flock. Unthrifty birds are a drain that makes poultry keeping difficult, expensive, time-consuming and eventually joyless. It's depressing to constantly have to work, work, work at getting the birds healthy, only to have the slightest stressor make the birds sick all over again.

The next bird that dies should be necropsied. Your state lab can help you getting this done. If you know exactly what you are dealing with then you can combat it more effectively (if you choose to go that route).

Good luck.

Oh my gosh! sending prayers your way

I have thought about culling the entire flock. I have lost many many chickens from this and really dont want to loose any more. It will be sad for me to cull because i love all my chickens, but if it is the best way then maybe i should.
I have called a state vet twice and it has been two weeks since the last call. He finally called back 2 days ago but i wasnt able to answer. I called him back again and now am waiting for another call back from him.

Let me ask this, even if i did sell all the birds then would the coop still be safe to use? If i thoroughly clean it with bleach and everything would it be ok? I really dont want to get rid of the coop because i just got the coop in august....

Im sorry your going through this.. I hope it was a wording error when you said sell your birds..if anything you need to cull..not subject someone else to whatever it is they have:(

The coop can be spared...clean it from top to bottom with spraying oxide..leave it empty for a few weeks and use oxide again. Give another week or so then it should be safe...don't rush things though..take your time cleaning and disinfecting

O wow no I didnt mean sell the birds. I dont know why i said that. I wouldnt want anyone else to go through what i am going through right now.
Ok, if i decide to cull, i will try to spare the coop just because i spent so much building it and it really is a good coop.
Would i need to buy new feeders and waters also for the coop or do i just clean them too?

If you do clear out it would be good to let things sit empty for at least 1 month beter yet 2 months. Cleaning the feeders and waters is likely the easiest. Strong bleach solution is good for plastic and metal ones can be baked ~350f. Cleaning the coop is tougher but it is the soil that essentially impossible to clean, relocating the run can also be a good idea if possible. It is impossible to destroy all infection, but in order to prevent reinfection getting the residual bacteria/virus counts as low as possible is the goal, with most infections it takes much more than just one spore, virus or bateria organisum to cross the infection threashold and overcome the imune system causing an active infection. The stronger the health of any new birds the higher this reinfection threashold will be.

If you go that route it can be wise to get just a couple health birds when your start back up and make sure they stay healthy for a month or two then bring in what young healthy birds you want from a known source. Give aways, rescues, auction birds and older birds will always be more risky.
