My dad is looking into getting some meat birds to go with the chickens that I've finally talked him into getting!

He just called me from his feed store and was telling me what they have available to order. He said that all they have to offer is a Red Broiler and a White Broiler. So how long does it take to grow those out and would there be any difference between the red or the white?

Thanks for the help in advance!

The reds will take about 12 weeks and the whites will take about 6 weeks for about the same weight.

Red broilers aren't the typical Freedom Rangers that many get here but more of a slow growing cornish.

Flavor wise the reds will be more "nutrient dense" and also a "stronger" taste due to it's age difference.

White have a tender succulent meat... with mild flavor

Reds will have a stringy meat... with a rich flavor due to the complex amino acids.

They both have their set backs and their pros... but if I would have to choose it would be the whites hands down.
