I will certainly give it a try!

I've seen people post that they give their chickens the vitamins in their water just a few days a week. Perhaps daily is to much?

I've seen that too. Guess I need to head on over to the FEEDING TIME forum portion and see what vitamins I need to give or just stick with the AvainCharge periodically.

Before I got my chickens, I read every chicken book I could get my hands on, as well as did ALOT of research on the internet. Everything I read bascially said that raising chickens was easy, but I have to tell ya...I don't exactly agree. At least not for me. I've had more issues with my 4 chickens since I got them in Oct. '07 then I've had with my 2 dogs...EVER. And the dogs are 5yrs. and 3yrs.

My flock of chickens are not feed treats on a regular basis, my layer has all the minerals and vits I think they need, in winter they get scratch in the evenings mixed with calf manna for warmth and extra protein........maybe once every 2 weeks or so do I treat...and thats with scrambled eggs or veggies...

And I only worm my chickens once a year in the Spring....you can over worm in my opinion....

*hey, tuff? how does calf manna work on your chickees? I used to give it to my buns when I had them in Cali; loved it--esp. When they were preggers. What do you notice in the chooks?

*could be too much treats or too many vits, chickaroo. Too much vit c and/or magnesium has a lax. effect in people & dogs; why not chickens? Esp. lil' ones.

I've given calf manna to my chickens for acouple years now it was recommended by a byc ezboard person...They do real well having added it to their diet, I have no issues with it they seem healthier having added it ...some of my hens are going on 6 years old.......I use to throw some out to them every few days...now I have been adding it to my scratch feed this winter for extra protein that I throw out in the evenings when its cold...it has a 25% protein in it which can't hurt in winter...the bag says to give each chicken a tablespoon a day or 5 to 10% of the ration....just a good nutritional supplement in my opinion......
