I have a duck that is a mixed breed (she looks like a crested fawn and white runner but not sure what she is). She has a clutch of 17 eggs today. She has been sitting on her eggs the last couple days so long as she is locked in her pen but will just run around if I let her out. She seems protective of her nest (she gets quite loud when anyone comes near) but she doesn't seem crazy protective and doesn't hiss or anything. She also continues to lay every day. Is this a sign of her transitioning into being broody or she is just a "fair-weather sitter"? Anyone else have this experience? I am thinking I should just toss the eggs or incubate the newer ones. Thoughts?? BTW, I do have a drake and they mate at least once a day. Thanks for any information!
