Need help identifying this breed

I dont believe so “line breeding” as it’s called in chickens is pretty common, especially with breeders, I dont think breeders would do it so much if it caused something like this, I also don’t see how that could cause a change in hormones. Good suggestion though.

Would this “line breeding” also apply to ducks... lol I have a female muscovy who looks like a drake... but she is definitely a girl.. lays eggs and makes trill noises

Could she be a mule or a hinny perhaps? sometimes their features are kind of screwy. Lol.

I thought this... I’ll share a photo of “abbey” my female muscovy who looks male... abbey is the black and white female the other photo is of Donald aka “duck” male... he has “squished” her many times...

I’m thinking in the way of Audrey... if a female can produce a male appearance but definitely be female then why can’t a chicken... and it would be my luck that I get the “special” ones lol

I don't think linebreeding would affect sex or sex hormones, and your duck looks entirely like a lady to me <3 small caruncles, small crest, petite face, different size than your boy Donald, who looks nearly identical to my neighbors Muscovy boy! They're such a lovely breed, can't wait to get some one day <3

I concur with @Northwest_Wannabe that she looks female, and not at all hybrid like. she just got a bit more junk in the trunk.

@JadeFarms mule or hinny being a Muscovy/mallard derived hybrid. which term is used is dependent on which parent was which. (And for the life of me I can never remember which is which!) As the OP mentioned she had a ‘scovy female that seemed masculine.

I have only ever heard of the equine terms mule/hinny.

So strange that they are also used to describe duck hybrids too.
