Hello all,
I am new to this site and fairly new to chicken owning in general so bear with me please :). I introduced a new pullet (very very sweet black Australorp) to my current Pullets roughly 7 days ago. I followed the rules of quarantine first, then kept my new pullet in a cage in view of my current pullets (barred rock, and isa brown) for roughly 10 days before physical integration. My barred rock has accepted the new pullet as member of the group but my isa brown is still being nasty to her. I have found this to be interesting because the barred rock is the top hen so once she accepted the new bird I figured the isa brown would fall in line. Not necessarily pulling her feathers out but constant chasing and hassling which stresses the new bird out and also causes significant noise for my neighbors :(. The isa brown tends tolerate the australorp better when they are in the coop together but as soon as i open the gate for free ranging all H*** breaks loose. Any further suggestions or tips of advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Physical integration is officially at day number 7.

They may need a few days to work out hiearchial matters. Top hen knows she's the boss..she doesn't need to establish herself w/new hen..but the other 2 evidently need to workout 2nd hen in command. Try to let them work it out. As long as the new hen isn't getting plucked or wounds...i would let them work it out between themselves.
