I've never hatched a duck but I have done chickens. If it's been over 12 hours since the first pip and you can't see the beak of the chick, then use a needle or knife VERY carefully and make an air hole for the chick so they can breathe. If you ever start to see blood then stop and wait a few hours.

After you make the air hole wait and see how the chick does. If they start to break free and just watch. ;) It's so amazing! If more than 6 hours pass and nothing seems to be happening but you still hear the chick trying then start making the air hole bigger. Keep in mind that hatching can take a day or two so you never want to rush this process.

After you've made the hole bigger and hours pass but teh chick still doesn't break free then start un zipping. Do you know how to do that?

Thanks for the reply and no this is my first batch of eggs! I'm reli relying on the internet! I did a safety hole for them as it has been more than 24hrs since they first internally pipped! They seem to be moving right now and tapping the egg but still no external pip have in mind it's still day 24 and I don't want to do anything too early I'm just waiting for their first external pip! That's all I need to reassure me.. worse case senario how would I help them unzip?

Aw how fun! So you un zip you basically mimic what the chick would do. You break and peel away the shell around the top of the egg until it pops off. but you do this very slowly and take break as iff you are the chick. Also, the chick may take over after sometime and that's great!

This isnt unusual for ducks... Infact most duck eggs start to pip at day 26... So dont freak out and dont help it out ANY more

Edit~ NOT day 16 Whoops! 26...
Ahhhhh thanks the only problem was that in enternally pipped at day 22-23 which was very odd... and still hasn't externally pipped I guess I'll just have to wait for them to do their thing!:p

Thankyou for the video! It's just made me really exited for their arrivals now! I just want to meet them now! I guess if their tapping and rocking the egg they should externally pip soon... do I lower the temp?
