NEED HELP NOW ASAP PLEASE!

Good luck on your babies!! If it makes you feel any better....and it probably won't!!....this evening when I took some eggs out of the turner one of my silkies has a crack/hole in it...I have no clue what happened. Didn't have it the last time I candled. They're also due in the next day or so. Guess we'll just have to see what happens.

Hopefully all is well with this little duckling. Don't be too hard on your little guy. He is just curious and full of wonder about what is going on with those eggs

Thanks for the responses. I just have paid a small fortune for these eggs. I love sebastopol geese and am just so anxious to have a couple running around. With shipped eggs its always a gamble, but to make it this far and then have something happen is just frustrating. I know my little guy is just curious. He has already broke the "plug" to where the water goes off of my R-Com 20 he he. But he's never tried to taket he lid off. Well if that one hatches I am going to have to name the little gosling after him, lol.

I would think the crack itself at this point wouldn't be a problem. Just keep the humidity up so the membranes don't dry too much.
I am curious though how did the egg crack? Did he drop it, squeeze it? Would that pressure or trauma hurt the chick? I've never hatched eggs so I'm just curious, not trying to worry you.

I agree with silkie, as with any egg, if the crack isn't bleeding and is near to the air cell I would just leave it and hope for the best once you have gotten this far in the incubating process. I am sending you good vibes! I know how important these eggs are to you!

Those lids are very easy to do that with. I try to just lift one end a little way to keep the heat and humidity in, and its often slipped inside. Last time it happened it landed on two eggs and broke them, but that hatch was a big 0 anyway. It sounds like it's promising if nothing is leaking, since it's most likely developed.

Yes my son got the egg with the lid...I just got home and no pips that I can see. I saw one egg rocking last night, so far haven'e seen the egg moving today yet. Tonight around 8pm (1.5 more hours) will technically be day 28. I put them in Feb. 22 at 8pm. So perhaps tomorrow I will see some progress! I can't wait.

Well yeah they say they COULD go to day 32, BUT when I hatched some out last year it was 28 on the nose, and everyone I have botten eggs has told me that from thier experience it has been 28 days as well, not that I will freak out to bad if it goes a little longer. I wont get to upset or bummed for a few more days.

How are your little eggs? When are they due again?
