need help now, plz

Is her balance okay when she walks? I would think if they were way down in the ear, she would be doing a lot of staggering and be in a great deal of pain.

When I worked as a vet tech, we had a kitten with maggots in the ear, and what the vet did was make a mild solution of boric acid and water, luke warm, and syringe it into the ear. He massaged the ear while holding the kitten's head still, to really work it in, then let the kitten shake it's head.

I wouldn't recommend doing it in the house, the clinic wall was a mess, but it really does work the maggots out.

If you can't find boric acid, the vinegar, betadine, or saline water solution are also excellent.

BTW - the maggot eared kitten we had at the clinic healed well and made a full recovery. I wish you the best of luck.

Jessie, she is just a few weeks old so kind of wobbly, but, no more than would be expected at that age.

the onlly reason I know as much as I do is because I read a really great article on maggots used on chronic wounds. they use them to remove all the dead tissue because they are better at it than the surgeons. they leave all the nice healthy stuff.

Good Morning all, The baby made it through the night and actually made it out of her box this morning and is getting around really well, warming her bottle now and will be checking her ear, and with any luck I will find nothing

Had a good day today, flushed her ear and found nothing, still eating good and starting to get around really well, yea!!!!

Thank you all so much for all the advice, very helpful.

Oh and I named her "Maggie", kind of sick but kind of appropriate don't ya think??? Here are a couple of pics of her, hard to take them myself, Oh and she has six toes on her front feet and a toe nail between the last two toes.

Yep JJ, I hope she continues to improve, she ate like a little pig tonight, I still haven't gotten her to poo??? Any ideas there, are they a little older before they have bowel movement???

This will sound bad but...
Take a warm, damp washcloth and wipe the backside.
Try to mimic the motion a mother cats tounge would make while she cleans its little bottom.

Haven't gotten her to poo?

Check to make sure she has all the required openings. I once found a kitten that didn't have any ! The mother kept abandoning it. Finally, we realized why. We ended up having to put it down.
