need help on deciding what type of meat chickens to raise

My fastest growing birds have been delaware cockerals, which I hatched. My next group of quick growers came out of trying to break my broody buff orps by throwing them in with my large but gentle EE roo- this batch of chicks grew fast and looked like mutt delawares and new hampshires. I hatched these in my bator as well. Again the delaware mutts got huge fast. Good luck.

I tried hatchery bred WLR Cornish ; they were very dissappointing . Even at 6 months the best cockeral was not much meatier than an EE cockeral . I still have 4 , 9 month old pullets that look meatier , but more compact , than their same age EEs . The EEs quit laying completely while the WLRCs are still giving me an occassional small egg in this winter weather ; but then the WLRC started laying later . One of my WLRC will start to brood a clutch of eggs during the day , but leaves them at night to join the others on the roosts
