Dolley my cuckoo maran has had some bloodiness on her tailfeathers (or lack thereof) for a few days, I treated with wound kote, but now it's a gaping wound. I know I should be isolating her right until she gets better...but what about the perpetrator? I think they all pick on her, since she's at the bottom, but the top bird, my astrolorp, picks on her the most. Should I be isolating her too? I dont know what to do at all. Please help!!!

Definitely isolate Dolley until she is completely healed or they will keep at it (happened to one of my girls too). Your boss lady will probably be fine with the others. Good luck!

I would definately seperate her from the others until she is healed. You will be suprised how well a chicken can heal from a gaping wound, just keep the ointment on it. I believe it was on this board that I got the information for my buff orp hen after she got attacked. I thought for sure that poor girl would die, dog got her and tore a hole in her..kept her isolate and greased up, she healed fine. Good luck, hope she is getting better.

What about re-introing her back into the bear pit--i mean chicken coop? Won't they just keep attacking her--especially since she's been gone for a few days?

and all I have to isolate her is a large sterilite bin with hardware cloth on top. I have water and food in there but it's pretty small, not much room at all--maybe 2 feet by 4 feet. Is that okay to keep her in for a few days?
