if she can blink and chooses to keep her eye open then i'd say you got one tough girl. not many chickens get into it with a hawk and live to cluck another day. she's very lucky and blessed to have a loving parent such as yourself. hope she heals up nicely and soon, my best wishes to the flock!

Now that I've thought about it, it's more likely her wound came from the commotion trying to get away from the hawk. I think the hawk would have done a lot more damage!

like i said, usually survival chances are fairly slim when it comes to hawks. it's too bad she got hurt in the commotion but is great that the whole situation wasn't more severe. she appears stout though and doesn't look too ornery after the whole ordeal. has she been eating or had anything to drink since the scuffle? i'd monitor her for perhaps the night with the wound being fresh and all, and make sure she is back to normal before letting her be

Yep! She was interested in food and treats, and we have been dripping electrolytes on her beak to get some water in her! She seems to be recovering nicely!
